During the summer break of 2012/13, the Centre for the History of European Discourses will offer two, eight week Summer Scholarships to students who have completed three years of study in Arts, and are planning to do honours or a research higher degree. The scholarships are for research work under the supervision of a member or affiliate of the Centre.

Key Features:
  • A weekly stipend of $300
  • You will be supervised by well-established researchers
  • You will have access to facilities and materials that may not be readily available elsewhere.
  • A capacity to obtain credit (or milestone requirements) towards your undergraduate degree (subject to degree rules and structure)
Non UQ enrolled students (international and domestic) who are not based in Brisbane or not within 100km of the research site, can apply for a one-off payment of $1000 per student to subsidise travel and accommodation expenses. Confirmation of student eligibility and coordination of all payments will be made by the research units
 
Research areas include:
  • The historical relationship between religion and science
  • The cultural and intellectual history of sexual medicine
  • Theory of history
  • Religious thought in early modern England, including its relation to literature
  • the history of modern French philosophy
  • 'Gender studies, queer theory and critical theories of the body
