Research Interests:
Larry Duffy is Lecturer in French in the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies. His main research area is French literature and culture of the nineteenth century, with a particular focus on naturalist fiction.  A book on naturalist representations of networks of movement and infrastructural change in nineteenth-century France, Le Grand Transit Moderne, is to be published this year by Rodopi.

Another key area of interest is Genetic Criticism, particularly in terms of the usefulness of manuscript corpora in providing insights into the processes whereby contemporary sociological and scientific discourses are incorporated into fiction.
